Confession of Faith
" And how can they preach unless they are sent?
As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring
good news!' " Romans 10:15 |
1.1
We confess that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy
Spirit, born a virgin birth, lived a sinless life, was
crucified, died an atoning death, was buried, then resurrected
on the third day. He then ascended into Heaven, is now seated at
the right hand of the Father and will return again. (Mathew
1:20, Luke 1:34&35, II Corinthians 5:21, Luke 23:26-24:53,
Romans, 8:34, Ephesians 1:20, Colossians 3:1, Hebrews 10:12,
John 14:3, Revelation 22:7&12)
1.2
We confess that Jesus Christ is the one and only Lord and
Savior and that the message of the cross is the power of God for
the salvation of all who believe. (John
3:16, John 14:6, Acts 4:12, I Corinthians 1:18, Ephesians 4:5)
1.3
We confess that the first and greatest commandment is to love
God and that the second commandment is like it, to love people. (Matthew
22:36-40, John 13:34&35, I John 4:7&8)
1.4
We confess that the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are
one in God. (Matthew
3:16&17, John 10:30, John 17:21&22, Romans 11:36, II
Corinthians 3:17, I Peter 1:2, I John 5:6-8)
1.5
We confess that the Holy Bible is God's inerrant message to
us and it was written by men under the influence of the Holy
Spirit. Therefore, our entire confession of faith can be read in
the scriptures. (Proverbs
30:5&6, Isaiah 40:8, II Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, II Peter
1:20&21)
1.6
We confess that God's Spirit communicates with us and through
us to create and sustain Christian faith and fellowship for
service in and to this world. (Luke
12:12, John 16:13&14, I Corinthians 2:4-14, II Corinthians
2:14-17)
1.7
We confess that salvation is a free gift from God that we
must receive willfully. We are redeemed by grace, through
repentance and faith, and not by our works. (John
3:16-18, Acts 20:21, Romans 10:10, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:4-6)
1.8
We confess that baptism represents the death and burial of
our old self and our resurrection into new life in Christ and
that we experience this as a public display of our repentance
and faith. (Matthew
28:18&19, Mark 16:16, Acts 10:47&48, Romans 6:1-10, I
Corinthians 12:13, II Corinthians 5:17)
1.9
We confess that by taking the Lord's Supper we're
acknowledging the selflessness of Jesus Christ. We reverently do
this in remembrance of His suffering, death and resurrection
that brought us the new covenant until He returns. (Luke
22:17-20, I Corinthians 11:23-29)
1.10
We confess that all of the power in this fellowship belongs
to our Lord Jesus Chris, its head. All actions are to be carried
out under His authority. Apart from Him we can do nothing.
(John
15:4&5, Ephesians 1:22&23, Ephesians 5:23&24,
Colossians 1:17-19)
1.11
We confess that in order to keep in step with the Holy
Spirit, we must live by the fruit of the Spirit and desire
Spiritual gifts among us.
(Matthew
12:33, John 15:1-8, Romans 12:4-8, I Corinthians 12&13,
Galatians 5:22-26, I Thessalonians 5:19-21, James 3:17&18,
II Peter 1:1-10)
1.12
We confess that there is a literal Heaven and a literal Hell.
(Psalm
9:17, Luke 13:24, John 14:3, Phillippians 3:20, II Peter 2:4,
Revelation 20:13-15)
